How did I miss John Mayer at Eddie's Attic?

John Mayer was in Atlanta a few weeks ago and tweeted at 11:30 pm that he would be playing at Eddie's Attic. Now I am a true John Mayer fan due to nostalgia for my high school days, listening to his music when it is great and forgiving when it is not so great, but unfortunatlly due to all my recent travels and school I was exhausted, already in bed, and missed the anouncement. We did go see him play at Lakewood the next night and I didn't think much of the missed show.
Well, this weekend Gabe and I decided to go on a last minute date to Eddie's Attic. I don't know how I've lived in Atlanta all this time and have never made it there. It is an amazing venue, not a bad seat in the house. As always, we were late, and they were sold out so we missed Evan McHugh and his band. The doorman told us to grab a drink and we could probably get in right before the next band played.
So when we finally get in it is standing room only to see the next band, The Brilliant Invention, at their farewell show. Of course I get yelled at by some old lady telling me she's going to have to be able to see the stage, and I ask her if she realizes no one's up there quite yet. Then she says I can't stand in the aisle and I tell her, thinking to myself where else do you stand but theisle, that as soon as someone important asks me to move I will. But before anything more serious could go down between me and Mrs. Daisy, Gabe has found us a table right up front. Turns out it was a reserved table for the previous band and we ended up sitting with some very friendly band members and having our drinks comped. Not too shabby.
Needless to say the night was awesome. I have no idea why The Brilliant Invention is quitting as a band, they were fantastic live.

After the show, Gabe and I hang around buying cds and chatting with the bands (which is one of the best things about small venues), who were both as nice as they were talented. Luckily we find out that Evan McHugh is playing at the Woodruff Arts Center for free on Thursday and I immediately decide to get a group together to go check it out after class. But if I'm completly honest what is running through my mind the whole time is how could I have missed John Mayer playing at this tiny venue what could only have been an acoustic set? I'm sure it was amazing. I bet he hung around after the show too, he seems like the kind of guy who would do that. I know, I know, everyone hates him because he says all kinds of inappropriate things in interviews, but so what? He's honest and hilarious.

So that leaves us with the biggest question of all. What other awesome stuff do you think is going on out there while I'm sleeping?
